Tecforce Golf Society - Last Round of 2019

Tecforce Golf Society - Last Round of 2019

16/10/2019

We couldn’t have asked for a nicer day for the last round of the Tecforce Golf Society in 2019! We had a great turn out from Tecforce, and Nick Sinclair of Loram also attended, supporting our recent collaborative workings.

The weather was great for this time of year, the sun was out, and the Morley Hayes Greens were in top condition. The Greensman should be applauded for their efforts in keeping the course in tip-top shape.

We started with the 9-hole Tower Course at 9:30am, which Nick Sinclair and Matt Freestone came joint winners; but as a trophy was up for grabs, a decision was taken to have a putt off! Nick came out on top; he also took the closest pin – well done Nick!

We then broke for dinner where we all had a chance to relax and recharge our batteries with some great food! Compliments to the chef!

So, we set off in 2 groups on the Manor Course, we were only halfway down the first hole and everyone was regretting the decision to get burgers! All full, we were thinking this may not have been a great idea!

We soon got over the feeling of being bloated and the round started to speed up accordingly, some great banter throughout the day was evidence of this! It was a close round using the Stapleford scoring system; Steve Carter and Toby Caine came out on top, both drawing as the overall champions so another Putt off was necessary! Steve came out on top; although it was agreed between both parties that the Trophy would be held at Tecforce and be classed as a draw!

Richard Robey, representing the sales team, came out on top between the battle of sales versus engineering! He pipped Matt Freestone to the longest drive by about 10 yards! We all thought Matt’s drive was going to be enough to take the honours!! It was nice to see great sportsmanship, Matt handed Rich the trophy!

Engineering did win the SOTD, Paul Owen managed to scrape the wooden spoon trophy for having the knack on slicing every drive but then producing a cracking recovery on more than one occasion!
Steve rounded the trophy collection up for the 18 holes, he took the ‘closest pin’ trophy after another Putt off!! (Must have been practicing his putting!)

It was great to see a new face in Matt Hare who was attending for the first time this year! After seeing our capabilities as a group, he decided to put his name forward in joining as a member next year!
